Kickoff: Setting the stage for HME 2.0

Dr. Philip Parks, a health care executive with more than 22 years of experience in strategic growth, innovation, operations, partnerships and transactions, sets the stage for this year’s HME News Business Summit with a look at why and how HME providers are strategically positioned to take advantage of the current state of health care to create value for patients, health systems and payers. He’ll provide an overview of the levers driving this transition, including the evolution of technology and value-based care, and the opportunities they present HME providers. Parks is optimistic that there is a transition from HME 1.0 to HME 2.0 happening – and the story is still being written.

Fireside chat: Insights into payer priorities

We’ll have a conversation with Phyllis Yale, a leader in building Bain & Company's Healthcare & Life Sciences practice for more than 40 years. She works with health care payers and providers across the continuum of care, and frequently advises the world's leading private equity firms on their investments in the health care sector. She currently sits on the board of directors of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts and advises three health care startups, including Tomorrow Health. She will discuss the macro shifts happening in health care from the payer perspective, including:

• the growing dominance of Medicare Advantage
• the need to solve “big problems” with “big solutions”
• the potential of tech-infused patient management for chronic conditions; and
• the emerging role of intermediaries to reduce cost and improve outcomes

Panel: The HME market: A view from investors & bankers

After slower than normal deal-making last year, there has been a renewed interest from investors in and around the HME market in 2024, particularly around building new, private equity-backed platforms, as well as broadly investing in the software and services markets. In this panel session, attendees will hear directly from PE and venture capital investors who have direct experience with HME companies and are actively searching for future investment opportunities, as well as bankers who are servicing the buyers and sellers in the market.
